Chris Anderson: How Web Video Powers Global Innovation

TED’s Chris Anderson takes the stage at TEDGlobal 2010 to highlight some amazing examples of how web video has connected groups around ideas to what he calls Crowd Accelerated Innovation. Chris identified three main ingredients for global innovation through the web. In this self-fueling model, all one needs is a crowd, visibility, and desire. Chris makes the case for video as a key to capturing the global crowd to revolutionize the way we think about education, too. In this new model, everyone in the crowd is a teacher! Tapping into this phenomenon could fundamentally change how, when, where, and from whom we learn.

Ethan Zuckerman on Global Voices and the Web

Ethan Zuckerman is one of those rare geniuses who spends his time trying to change the world.  In addition to working as a researcher at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, Ethan has started several high-profile online initiatives to study and share news and information from across the globe.  In his recent TED Talk, Ethan shows how most of the News in the U.S. is about the U.S., with the trend showing decreasing global news over the past few decades.  This is astonishing considering that social media has exploded across the globe.  Check out Global Voices, which Ethan co-founded to share blogger news from around the world.
