Exploring the Past, Embracing the Future
The New Math performing at TEDxTampaBay 2013
From iPads to saxophones, TEDxTampaBay 2013 presenters shared stories of the past as they peered into the future to dream of walking on Mars and destroying cancer. Attendees enjoyed an eclectic day full of discovery and wonder at the beautiful Palladium Theatre in St. Petersburg as we hosted a delightfully inspiring event full of activities. We had a drumming circle that allowed anyone and everyone to participate. At one point there was a four year-old drumming alongside a 95 year-old–talk about multi-generational.

Michelle Royal of RIDG beautifully illustrated the event as it unfolded. the Nerdtag.me team kept their 3-D printer cranking all day as people swarmed to see the machine crank out nerdy tags and objects. EXMO showed off its awesome event app in the best way possible–it powered the day’s schedule, speakers info, sponsor details and even shared messages and polls with the crowd. Thanks to the beautiful October weather, we hosted lunch with the option of dining outdoors–some folks found great spots in the grass under the oaks.

TEDxTampaBay is a one-of-a-kind event where people met others they’d probably never meet otherwise–an eclectic mix of thinkers and doers from around the bay area and beyond with a big-picture vision for changing the world. Thanks to everyone who made this event a huge success.
